City Releases 2019 2nd Quarter SBE Spend

CINCINNATI – The City of Cincinnati’s Department of Economic Inclusion (DEI) is continuing its commitment to enhance contracting participation for all of those seeking to do business with the City of Cincinnati through its Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Program.  During the 2nd quarter of 2019, which runs April 1, 2019 through June 30, 2019, total City spend in Hamilton County for competitively let contracts totaled $42,522,834.15.  Of that amount SBEs, SLBES and ELBEs received 4.6% of the construction spend, 4.89% of the professional service spend and 13.89% of the supplies/services spend, for overall participation of 6.65% or $2.82 million for all contract categories.

As of June 30, 2019, there were 180 certified SBEs. Of that 180, 71 self-identified as African American, 10 reported their ethnicity as Asian, Asian-Pacific American, or Subcontinent Asian American, and 1 identified as Hispanic American.  There are 111 firms that self-identify as Caucasian.

By design, the M/WBE and SBE policies and activities complement each other with an eye toward achieving overall balance between race/gender and non-race/gender objectives of the City inclusion values.
