Garbage Collection

The City of Cincinnati's Garbage Collection Service is managed by the Department of Public Services (DPS). A few things to know:

  • DPS provides weekly garbage collection services for residences that meet the definition of a "dwelling" as defined in CMC 729-1-D1.
  • Garbage must be placed in a city-approved cart that is compatible with DPS lifting equipment.
  • You can learn what you can and can't have collected on the DPS website.

Through 311, you can:

  • Register your privately-owned trash cart
  • Request repair of a city-issued trash cart
  • Report a missed garbage collection
  • Report an overflowing corner can
  • Report trash cans left out, or set out too early

Process:

  • Garbage-related 311 requests are routed to DPS.
  • Check your text messages and email for process-related information and status updates.
