The Cincinnati Police Department
CALEA Accredited Law Enforcement Agency

The Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency of the City, existing under provisions of Article IV, Section 3, of the Administrative Code of the City of Cincinnati. The primary responsibilities of the Police Department are:

  • Prevention of crime
  • Protection of life and property
  • Suppression of criminal activity
  • Apprehension and prosecution of offenders
  • Regulation of noncriminal conduct
  • Preservation of public peace
