Irrigating Safely

In-Ground Lawn Sprinklers

While in-ground lawn sprinklers are convenient and add to the value of your property, they can also pose a health hazard.

Under certain conditions, pesticides, insecticides and fertilizers used on your lawn can be backsiphoned through the irrigation system into your home and into the public water supply.

Greater Cincinnati Water Works is actively involved in protecting both the public water supply and the health of our customers through our Cross Connection Control Program. Standards for backflow prevention have been established in keeping with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

We need your cooperation to insure that our goals are met.

If you are considering installation of an irrigation system, or if you have concerns about whether your existing system meets current standards, please call us at 513-591-7700.
