TRAFFIC ALERT
Elberon Avenue Landslide Update

Elberon Avenue, between Mt. Hope and Purcell avenues, is expected to reopen to traffic after 1 p.m. Saturday.

About 600 loads of soil had to be removed from the site. For comparison, 98 loads of soil were removed after the Jan. 9, 2012, landslide on Columbia Parkway.

As of Friday afternoon, there was one large tree that still had to be removed. Crews will also install erosion control at the site.

This area of Elberon has a history of active slides, and a year of unusually heavy rain accelerated the hillside's movement.
