Streetcar Progress Update: May 27, 2014

In the Central Business District, expect intense construction activity on Walnut Street and on Main Street near the courthouse.

Near Memorial Hall in Over-the-Rhine, crews will be bending rail for the curve at 12th & Elm Streets.

Between Elm and Race, westbound 12th Street will be closed 9am-3pm daily, and a detour will be posted.

Overnight this week, eastbound Court Street will be closed at Walnut for conduit work.

Major Work Coming Soon

Duke Manhole Near Courthouse

Starting Monday, June 2 and continuing for about 5 weeks, Duke will be installing an electrical manhole on Main Street at Court Street.

This will block part of the intersection nearest to the Court Street median; however, all through traffic and turns will be maintained.
 
Curve At Central Parkway & Walnut

Work on the curve from Central Parkway to Walnut is planned to begin Thursday, June 5 and continue through that weekend.

Right now, we plan to close the intersection at 9am Thursday, June 5 and reopen it at 7am Monday, June 9.

Progress Last Week

Crushed stone base

Workers prep the trench for rail at the Elm & 12th Street curve. Here, they're compacting the gravel base before installing rebar.

Stop 10 construction

Stop 10 construction continues on Elm near Henry Street. The stop has a slight ramp up, so you'll enter and exit the streetcar without any stairs.

Sewer lining

Sewer lining continued on Walnut at 3rd Street.

TPSS foundation work

Work also started on a foundation for the power substation in the median of Court Street (at Walnut). The substation ensures there's consisent power throughout the streetcar route.
