ACES Brings Together Council Members, School Board Members, Police Chief, Recreation Director

On Monday March 3, 2014, the Education & Entrepreneurship Committee of Cincinnati City Council and the Board of Education met jointly as part of the new initiative called ACES (Alliance for Community and Educational Success) with various Cincinnati Public School and City of Cincinnati administrators, including the Chief of Police and the Director of Recreation.  Chief Blackwell and Director Bigham answered questions posed by the joint working group around current initiatives and future opportunities for collaboration to provide safe schools and neighborhoods and enriching recreational options.

This meeting is the first of what will be an ongoing series of meetings as part of ACES.  "Having the City's top brass field questions from both Council members and School Board members reflects our commitment to shared goals and shared accountability," said Councilmember PG Sittenfeld. "Two bodies that haven't always communicated very effectively will now be asking tough questions together and pursuing smart solutions as a unified front."
