See below for information on small business initiatives proposed by the SBAC and Councilmember Simpson.
- Jump Teams
This program will create "jump teams" comprised of representatives from City departments working with small businesses (e.g., Planning & Buildings, Economic Development, and Health). The "jump team" will be responsible for navigating small business owners through the licensing/permitting process, focusing on reducing red tape, and shortening the time it takes for a business to get up and running. The City Administration, with assistance from SBAC members, is currently researching and creating proposed parameters for this program.
- "Vacant to Vibrant" Program
This program will allow small business owners to purchase City-owned property (or property the City can obtain using lien powers) for a nominal fee, to be used to operate their small business. Small business owners will be required to develop the property over an established period of time to a specified standard. The City Administration, working in conjunction with the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority and with assistance from SBAC members, is currently researching and creating proposed parameters for this program.
