The primary function of Information Security Services is to ensure the City’s information technology operations are conducted within an environment that provides for the protection and control of electronic assets and resources. Among this group’s responsibilities are:

Identify information security requirements necessary for the protection of all information processed, stored or transmitted by the City’s information systems; interpret those requirements; and develop, implement and administer the City’s plans, policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

Identify information system business practices and security violations and infractions. Conduct inquiries, assess potential damage, direct and monitor the City’s management of preventive or corrective action.

Establish and administer an Information Security awareness program for all City information system users, including employees, contractors and business partners, to ensure they are cognizant of information security threats and the security policies and procedures necessary for the protection of information systems.

Provide updates and information related to security matters relevant to the City of Cincinnati. Act as the point of contact with law enforcement, standards setting organizations, and service providers for both incident response support and security advice.

Management of the WebSense Internet filtering software: This software restricts access to certain Internet sites that are unrelated to the business of the City of Cincinnati.
