Yard Waste Recycling FAQ's

When is yard waste service provided?

  • Call-in Service - January 19, 2009 through April 3, 2009.
    Residents should call the Public Services Customer Service Center at 591-6000 to request yard waste collection.
  • Weekly Service - April 6, 2009 through January 18, 2010
    This service provides uninterrupted curbside service for nine months and call-in service during winter months when little yard waste is generated.
Is there a service fee for yard waste collection?
  • No.  The City of Cincinnati's Yard Waste Collection Program is provided free of charge to Cincinnati residents who currently receive regular collection service from the Public Services Department, Neighborhood Operations Division.
What type of materials are accepted as yard waste?

All types of organic yard waste will be accepted, including:
  • grass clippings
  • leaves
  • branches, tree limbs, and brush

How should I prepare my yard waste for pick up?

You have the choice of using a:
  • Trash can clearly marked "Yard Waste"
  • Biodegradable brown paper yard waste bag (purchased from area grocery stores)
  • 90-gallon carts (call 591-6000 for requirements)
  • Sorry, no plastic, wire or duct tape will be accepted. Tie branches and brush into bundles no larger than 2' x 4'. Individual tree limbs should be no larger than 6" in diameter.
