Police Involved Shooting Investigation

On November 17, 2008, at approximately 1:35 a.m., Cincinnati Police District Two officers were in the parking lot of Annie’s Night Club at 4343 Kellogg Avenue. While there, officers heard gunfire and observed a person firing a gun. The suspect entered the rear passenger seat of a red Ford Tempo. The Ford Tempo exited the parking lot and officers immediately began following the vehicle.

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, which continued onto Wilmer Avenue and then westbound onto Airport Road. As the vehicle pulled over, the shooting suspect fled the vehicle on foot.

Sergeant Daniel Carder, District Two Third Relief Supervisor, pulled his police vehicle past the subject and exited his vehicle. The suspect ran behind Sergeant Carder’s vehicle and fired one shot at Sergeant Carder.

Sergeant Carder returned fire, striking the suspect, causing him the fall to the ground. While on the ground, the suspect retained possession of his firearm and pointed it in the direction of Sergeant Carder. Sergeant Carder again discharged his fireman causing the suspect to discard his firearm.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to University Hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds.

The suspect has been identified as: Dimitri M. Rogers, black male, DOB 4/18/87.

Investigation into this incident is ongoing and charges are forthcoming.
