Police Promotion Ceremony

The Cincinnati Police Department held a promotion ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Friday June 22 in the Chief’s office at Police Headquarters, 310 Ezzard Charles Drive.  Chief Thomas H. Streicher, Jr. administered the oath of office to Police Specialist Ryan L. Smith.

Police Specialist Ryan Smith is a graduate of Oak Hills High School, and he attended the University of Cincinnati.  He has served in the US Army, with six years on active duty assigned to the 478th Engineering Battalion, and then as a member of the Army Reserve.  In July 1998 he entered the Cincinnati Police Academy’s 86th Recruit Class.  Since graduating in December of that year, he has been assigned to patrol in District Five.  In evaluating his performance, Specialist Smith’s supervisors have noted that he is always willing to assist newer officers and that he is adept at applying the SARA model to problem-solving policing.
