TAKING BACK OUR MEN: TWO EVENTS INCLUDE INFO ON RESOURCES AND ASSISTANCE FOR FATHERS, SONS AND HUSBANDS
Dinner and Panel Discussion Friday June 14
Workshops and Job Fair at Juneteenth Festival Saturday June 15
The Cincinnati Police Department has partnered with the faith-based community to present two programs designed to assist men with removing barriers that keep them from moving forward and becoming better fathers, sons, husbands and citizens.
A free dinner Friday June 14 begins at 6:30 p.m. at Christ Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church, 3060 Durrell Avenue. In addition to the meal, guests will hear a panel of men who will share their experiences overcoming challenges such as fatherlessness, incarceration, and unemployment. Reservations for the dinner can be made by phone at 513-352-1454 or by e-mail at Louis.Arnold2@cincinnati-oh.gov. Additional sponsors partnering with the Police Department for this dinner and discussion include Kroger, Shelton-Reid Inc., and Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Taking Back Our Men continues Saturday June 15 in conjunction with the Juneteenth Festival at 1:00 p.m. at Daniel Drake Park, 5800 Red Bank Road. Along with the traditional festivities of Juneteenth, Taking Back Our Men will host a job fair plus special workshops on apprenticeship programs; resources for obtaining a GED and driver’s license or state ID card; housing issues; and navigating the child support system.
