Records Request

Cincinnati Police Department Records receives, reviews and files most criminal offense reports, accident reports and related records, and processes traffic violation citations and applications for firearm transfers and registrations.

Cincinnati Police Department Records is located in Room 328 of City Hall, at 801 Plum Street. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday except holidays.

Under Ohio Records Law, your request is not required to be in writing, nor is it required that your name or the intended use of the requested records be disclosed.  The information requested is solely intended to enhance our ability to respond to your request in a timely and reasonable manner.

 

Records Checks

The Cincinnati Police Department does not provide Records Checks.  Contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, 1000 Sycamore Street, Room 100. The phone number for Record Checks is 513-946-6220.

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) has an online customer service that allows drivers to check out an “unofficial” copy of their driving record. The unofficial records can not be used as evidence in court, to verify a driving record for employment or for getting car insurance. To access this service visit the BMV website at www.ohiobmv.com.


Parking Tickets

Cincinnati Police Department Records does not accept payment for tickets. Contact the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts at 513-946-6010.
Cincinnati Police Records can provide a copy of Cincinnati Parking Infractions (CPIs).
If you wish to contest your parking ticket, contact the Hamilton County Parking Violation Bureau at 513-946-6012.

Moving Violations

Cincinnati Police Department Records does not accept payment for tickets. Contact the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts at 513-946-6010.
Individual moving violations reports are accessible at Cincinnati Police Department Records. To obtain a copy, you will have to provide the following information to enable a search for the type of ticket requested:

  •  Name of person involved/cited
  •  Date of Birth
  •  Date of occurrence/arrest
  •  Location of occurrence

Moving violations may be picked up at City Hall, 801 Plum Street, Room 328, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202 or can be obtained by mail. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope and $.05 per report. Include the information listed above.  Also provide a fax number in the event the report can be faxed.
 

Accident Reports

Reports for accidents that occurred within the City of Cincinnati are available after the report has been reviewed and approved. To obtain a copy of a report you will be required to provide the following:

  •  Name of driver(s)
  • • Date of occurrence
  • • Location of accident

Accident reports may be picked up at City Hall, 801 Plum Street, Room 328, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202 or may be obtained by mail. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope and $4.00 per report. Include in the request the information listed above.  Also provide a fax number and an e-mail address in the event the report can be faxed. (Not all reports are available to be sent electronically.)
 


Offense/Incident Reports

Incident reports are accessible at Cincinnati Police Department Records after the report has been reviewed and approved. To obtain a copy of a report you will be required to provide:

• Name of person(s) involved

  • Date of occurrence
  • Type of occurrence, such as burglary, assault, theft 
  • Location of occurrence

Incident reports may be picked up at City Hall, 801 Plum Street, Room 328, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202 or can be obtained by mail. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope and $.20 per report. Include the information listed above.  Also provide a fax number in the event the report can be faxed.

 

Arrest Reports


Individual arrest reports are accessible at Cincinnati Police Department Records. To obtain a copy, you will have to provide the following information to enable a search for the Arrest Report document:

  • Name of person arrested
  • Date of Birth
  • Date of occurrence/arrest
  • Location of occurrence

Arrest reports may be picked up at City Hall, 801 Plum Street, Room 328, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202 or can be obtained by mail. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope and $.05 per report. Include the information listed above.  Also provide a fax number in the event the report can be faxed.

Schedule of Fees

EFFECTIVE June 1, 2012 in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code Section 149, the fee schedule for official Cincinnati Police Department reports defined as being “Public Records” is as follows:

  • Accident Reports – OH-1 $4.00 each
  • All other paper documents $0.05 per page
  • Compact Disc/DVD $1.00 each
  • Photographs
  • Color 8X10 $.41 each
  • Black & White $.39 each
  • All historical audio or video tapes, copied in a medium not listed above (i.e. audio cassettes or VHS tapes), will be charged a fee equivalent to the cost of the tape.
