Ohio No. 1, Cincinnati USA No. 5 for Attracting New Business

Cincinnati USA is continuing its strong, consecutive run in Site Selection Magazine’s annual new and expanded businesses ranking. The region is ranked number five on the Top 10 Metros list, and the State of Ohio has reclaimed the Governor’s Cup, the top award for states measured by the total number of projects. A project is defined as a new or expanded business that meets one of these three criteria: $1 million or more in private capital investment, 50 or more new jobs or 20,000 square feet.

2006 marks the fifth consecutive year that the Cincinnati USA MSA has earned a spot in the Top 10 Metros list. The State of Ohio previously won the coveted Governor’s Cup in 2003 and for three years in the mid-1990s.

Cincinnati USA also received high marks from Expansion Management, making their list of America’s 50 Hottest Cities. Simply making this list means that the Cincinnati region, in the eyes of the premier site location consultants, is in the upper tier of cities for expansion and relocation opportunities.

The Cincinnati region had 93 new or expanded businesses meet the criteria outlined above in calendar year 2006.
