Werk Avenue

Issue: The outbound Harrison Avenue left turn to Werk Road is a fairly heavy movement. Between 2005 and 2007 there were eleven accidents involving vehicles turning left from Harrison Avenue to Werk Road. There were also nine rear-end/sideswipe accidents that may be attributed to vehicles stopped in the through lane waiting to turn left.

Create a dedicated left turn lane. This would be done with
signage and pavement markings within the existing curb lines. The outbound
curb lane would be for through traffic and the left lane would be for turning
vehicles only. This would force all through traffic into one lane. It may
require the removal of some on-street parking on outbound Harrison
Avenue north of Werk Road.
