Streetcar Drives Business Location

When former bigg’s organic buyer Meredith Trombly and former bigg’s corporate chef Louis Snowden decided to launch their own sustainable, local and organic food business in Cincinnati, they looked nowhere else but historic Findlay Market in Over-the-Rhine.

According to Trombly, one of the driving factors behind becoming a vendor at Findlay Market is the Cincinnati Streetcar project.

“When we launched our business at the market in October 2010, we saw great potential for increased visitors to Findlay Market through the upcoming advancements in local public mass transit through the Cincinnati Streetcar project,” she said.

She believes that the Streetcar will help eliminate parking concerns for visitors to the Market and provide customers more accessibility from Downtown and Uptown to the Market for grocery shopping or lunch.

For example, the Streetcar will allow visitors to park at Fountain Square garage while spending time Downtown, and they will not need to move their car to visit Findlay Market.

As a Clifton resident, Trombly would take the Streetcar to work every day, and she also sees it as a great way to expand the restaurant’s product offerings.

“We would hope to use the Streetcar as a way to expand our catering services," she said. "Instead of having to deliver fresh, organic meals to downtown businesses with my car, I could deliver with the Streetcar.”

“The vision behind Fresh Table is to provide greener meal options, and the Cincinnati Streetcar project is truly in line with our business goals as it will provide more sustainable transportation options for the region,” Trombly said.
