Mark Mallory
Mayor of Cincinnati
Overview
Cincinnati is undergoing an urban renaissance. With a growing population, new restaurants, new housing, and expanded businesses, Cincinnati’s 52 neighborhoods are more vibrant than ever.
In an effort to build on the energy in our city, Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory launched Shop 52 to attract retailers to Cincinnati. Shop 52 is designed to create more shopping opportunities and business investment in our neighborhoods by challenging the traditional perception of the market potential in urban areas.
To do this, Mayor Mallory partnered with Social Compact, a national not-for-profit corporation. They conducted a Drilldown study to measure the true economic strength and buying power of inner-city neighborhoods because traditional census methods undercount the population and market potential of urban cities.
Our Drilldown Study overlays 27 pieces of data and shows that Cincinnati’s true population is 14% higher and our true buying power is 42% higher than reported by the 2000 Census.
Shop 52’s data illustrates that Cincinnati is growing and that we have the buying power to support a significant increase in retail opportunities. Shop 52 is your invitation to get in on the ground floor and tap into Cincinnati’s bright future.
