MOTION, dated 12/19/2007 submitted by Councilmember Berding, that the Administration create an application process for the granting of funds from the recent budget allocation of $1,245,000 for the purchase, demolition and/or renovation of foreclosed properties (document #200701293). I FURTHER MOVE that the application evaluation process for this fund include weighted criteria to be determined by the Administration such as: A)Leverage of other, non-city funds; B)Ability of the grantee to maintain parcels after acquisition; C)Synergism with other development projects; D)A critical mass of properties in close enough proximity to achieve substantive impact; E)The project contributes to the implementation of the neighborhood's community plan; and F)Capacity of the organization to accomplish the proposed program. I FURTHER MOVE that details regarding the application and evaluation process be made available to all Cincinnati Development Corporations. RESOLUTION, submitted by Councilmember Berding, EXPRESSING City Council's opposition to Cincinnati Public Schools' proposal to build the new Chase School at the location of the current Chase School and URGING the administration of the Cincinnati Public Schools to work together with the City of Cincinnati and the community to maximize this opportunity for the neighborhood, residents and students of Northside.

RESOLUTION, submitted by Councilmember Qualls, on 1/30/2008, EXPRESSING the desire and commitment of the Mayor and members of Council, which is shared by many Cincinnati residents, that the City of Cincinnati hold its law enforcement representatives to the highest possible standards for conduct and behavior, consistent with the collective bargaining agreement between the City of Cincinnati and the Fraternal Order of Police, the Cincinnati Charter and the laws of the State of Ohio, and that the Administration is hereby directed to work cooperatively with the Fraternal Order of Police and appropriate community stakeholders in order to assess and improve the existing disciplinary provisions under Ohio civil service law, the Cincinnati Charter and the collective bargaining agreement.

ORDINANCE submitted by Milton Dohoney, Jr., City Manager, on 1/30/2008, authorizing the City Manager to enter into a CDBG Professional Service Contract with the National Development Council, a not-for-profit corporation, for the purpose of providing on-going technical assistance, training and on-going support services to the Department of Community Development in connection with the City's housing, economic development and community development programs.

MOTION, dated 1/18/08 submitted by Councilmember Cole, that the administration develop an updated process to determine which city streets qualify for street calming through the funding made available in the 2008 Budget, and present this process before Council for a vote. Also that streets which did not receive speed humps due to a cut in funding in 2003 become a priority for this program, including Wess Park Drive in the North Avondale neighborhood. Since street calming funds were cut in 2003 some streets that supported the construction of street calming structures were not provided with steed humps. Wess Park Drive in North Avondale has continued to request speed humps since 2003 and should be given a priority status, along with other streets that missed out due to funding cuts.
