Mayor Mark Mallory will help ceremonially “debark” the black locust logs that will be used for the supports for a new Universally Accessible Treehouse in Mt. Airy Forest. The Universally Accessible Treehouse will have a series of ramps that provide access to all, including children and adults with special needs who are routinely confronted with barriers to fun and play in their daily lives.
“The Treehouse project will open up a world of adventure and fun to Cincinnati youth who never thought they would be able to play in a treehouse,” Mayor Mallory said. “The Treehouse is a great addition to our amazing parks system and will benefit countless Cincinnati young people and encouraging them to play together in new and exciting ways.”
WCPO Channel 9 reporter Michael Flannery has lead efforts to build the Treehouse, which will be the first Universally Accessible Treehouse in Ohio. The Treehouse will be build completely through volunteer labor and community donations.
