EITC Partnership -

Every year, thousands of Cincinnati citizens miss out on claiming millions of dollars in tax credits. Last year, 14,000 Cincinnati residents qualified for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) but did not claim the credit, leaving over $9 million unclaimed.
In addition, many of the Cincinnati residents who did claim the EITC left thousands of dollars on the table by paying someone to prepare their tax return and receiving their tax refund with a “Same Day Tax Refund,” which are actually short-term, high-interest loans.
I want Cincinnati residents to keep more of what they earn. It is with that goal in mind that the City of Cincinnati has joined the Make Work Pay EITC Partnership.
The purpose of the Make Work Pay Program is to help eligible wage earners in the City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County receive quality tax preparation and wealth-building opportunities to strengthen the economy of our neighborhoods.
The program aims to increase awareness about the Earned Income Tax Credit so that more eligible Cincinnatians take advantage of this tax credit worth up to $4,400.
The program is also an exciting opportunity for Cincinnati Citizens to receive their FULL tax refund – FAST. The program offers people free tax preparation and E-filing with the IRS.
Make Work Pay in Cincinnati is a partnership between the City of Cincinnati, National City, Consumer Credit Counseling Service, Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati, SmartMoney Community Services, and United Way of Greater Cincinnati.
