ONE ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE 234 Hartwell- Hartwell
Acting District Fire Chief Randal T. Freel Jr reported on a One-Alarm structure fire that
occurred in the Hartwell neighborhood of Cincinnati on Monday, April 22, 2013. At 10:49 AM,
the Cincinnati Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a structure fire at
234 Hartwell Ave.
Upon arrival, companies found heavy smoke on the first floor of a two story frame structure
and a “working fire” in the kitchen. All persons were reported out of the building. Firefighters
deployed hose lines to the first floor quickly extinguishing the fire and containing it to the
kitchen. The bulk of the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes.
Damage is estimated at $15,000. The cause of the fire was food left unattended on the stove.
Thirty-five firefighters were utilized at this incident. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
