Main Street: Temporary Sidewalk Closures

Temporary Sidewalk Closures On Main Street

A 200-foot stretch of both the east and west sidewalks on Main Street between Fifth and Sixth streets will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 2 to Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014.

The closure is needed to allow crews to continue sidewalk reconstruction outside the John Weld Peck Federal Building and ongoing work to the AT580 apartments-office building.

Detours will be in place to guide pedestrians around the two construction sites via Walnut or Sycamore streets.

The Metro Bus stop closest to Sixth Street on the east side of Main will be closed during this period. Signs will be posted to direct riders to nearby stops. The stop closest to Fifth Street will remain open.

Access to the Federal Building will be from the south via Fifth Street. Access to AT580 will be via Sixth Street.

These temporary closures reflect the commercial and residential construction boom underway in Downtown Cincinnati. Multiple development projects are in process in Over-the-Rhine, the Central Business District and at The Banks.

Details about additional traffic or pedestrian restrictions will be announced closer to the effective dates for all work. The City is carefully coordinating the issuance of permits that affect streets and sidewalks to minimize disruption to residents, businesses and workers.

Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to refer to the City’s RoadmapCincy communications platform for updates and guidance on how to navigate around construction sites:
