LIFEGUARD
A. LIFEGUARD
Responsible for the safety, supervision and discipline and customer service of all persons using deep or shallow water pool facilities. Must have current American Red Cross Training, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications. Generally works under direct supervision of Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard. Must be willing to work other than normal work hours, and be available to work as scheduled based upon the need of the department. Pool location may vary based on needs of the department. Must attend pre-season training, and successfully pass lifeguard skills review. Must be 15 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff swimwear.

B. LIFEGUARD/WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR
Performs the duties of the lifeguard and the duties of the Water Safety Instructor; teaches swimming and water safety skills. Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instructor, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications. Must attend pre-season training, specific program training and successfully pass lifeguard skills review. Must be 17 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff swimwear.

C. DEEP-WATER POOL HEAD GUARD
Performs the duties of the lifeguard and the duties of the pool manager in his/her absence at deep-water pools. Responsible for the safety and supervision of a pool facility, staff participants, supplies and equipment. Must be able to supervise staff and administer pool operations. Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications. American Red Cross Head Guard and Water Safety Instructor certification preferred. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must attend pre-season training and successfully pass lifeguard skills review. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff swimwear.

POOL MANAGER
Responsible for the safety and supervision of a pool facility, staff, participants, supplies and equipment. Responsible for membership tokens and the revenue collection process, post-season inventory, and collections of equipment. Must be able to supervise staff, the pool areas and all persons using pool facilities. Must be able to operate a pool filtration system and implement emergency action plans as well as supervise staff in-service weekly emergency skill drill and staff training. Must be able to correctly complete appropriate paperwork. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications. Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator and American Red Cross Head Guard certification preferred. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor also recommended. Must be able to work other than normal work hours. Must attend pre-season training and successfully pass lifeguard skills review. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff swimwear.

POOL SUPERVISOR
Responsible for supervision of day-to-day operations at multiple pool facilities, including customer service supervision of managers, staff scheduling (within budget constraints), adherence to minor labor laws, collection of necessary paperwork, ordering needed equipment and supplies, overseeing revenue collection, membership token distribution, pre and post season inventory and collection of equipment and supplies. Must communicate well, both in writing and orally. Responsible for overseeing performance evaluations of pool managers and lifeguards at three-week intervals. Reports to Aquatic Coordinator. Must maintain open lines of communication with Service Area Coordinators, Regional Supervisors, and Pool Managers. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must have current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications. Current Aquatic Facility Operator, Certified Pool Operator, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, and previous management experience preferred. Must have valid Ohio Driver’s License and provide own vehicle for transportation. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff wear.

RECREATION PROGRAM LEADER
Implements recreation activities either by providing direct service or by providing supervision of those implementing recreation activities. May assist in the planning and promotion of an activity/program or be responsible for the development, planning and implementation of a recreation program. May use a specific skill needed to implement a specialized recreation program. May be responsible for a revenue collection process.

Examples of expected assistance or accommodations: (1) Assist participants with personal care tasks such as dressing, eating and bathrooming; (2) Provide both verbal directions and physical assistance as needed. It includes opening food/drink containers, spoon feeding, keeping face and clothing free of food, etc.; (3) Bathroom assistance may include lifting on/off toilet, wiping, diaper changing, hand washing.
May be responsible for revenue collection process. Must be willing to work other than normal work hours. Must demonstrate an ability to lead participants in a specific recreation activity. Must be willing to take direction form supervisors and managers. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must follow Department of Recreation rules, regulations and guidelines, especially those relating to safety, customer service and finance.
NON-SUPERVISORY Recreation Program Leader must be 15 years of age or older. (Positions for those 15-17) years of age are limited. Those under 18 years of age must be willing to work under close supervision. Those over 18 years of age must be willing to work with either close or minimum supervision.
SUPERVISORY Recreation Program Leader must be 18 years of age or older. Must demonstrate ability to plan, supervise and coordinate all elements of a recreation program. Must be willing to work with minimum supervision. This position should have as its primary duties the supervision of other part-time staff or the independent operation and coordination of recreation programs. May be required to wear Department of Recreation clothing items.
MUNICIPAL FACILITY WORKER
Performs duties related to maintenance, janitorial, grounds upkeep. Or, may perform duties related to clerical, bookkeeping or administration duties on a seasonal basis only. Must be willing to work other than normal work hours. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have valid Ohio Driver’s Licenses for positions that require driving.

RECREATION SPECIALIST
Responsible for duties and/or a program which requires a high degree of specialization and/or professional certification. Examples: publicist, videographer, graphics designer, certified personal trainer, wheelchair games coordinator. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have valid Ohio Driver’s License for those positions which require driving.

Employees of the Cincinnati Recreation Commission positions must be residents of Hamilton County on the day hired for any of these positions. Employees must maintain their Hamilton County residency while working for the Cincinnati Recreation Commission. Employees must meet conviction record standards set by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission and/or the State of Ohio and meet any relevant City of Cincinnati medical standards. Employees 18 and older must be fingerprinted. Each year, part-time and seasonal employees must have a local police check and be fingerprinted. Full-time employees may be fingerprinted on an irregular basis in order for those employees to qualify to work in specified programs, such as school-based paid after-school programs, as required by law.
