Lois Ann Gribler Swim Fund

c/o The Cincinnati Recreation Commission Foundation
805 Central Avenue Suite 800
Cincinnati, OH 45202

The Cincinnati Recreation Commission has been very fortunate to have Lois Ann Gribler working for 40 years in our Aquatics Program.  Lois began her career with CRC in June of 1968 making $1.40 per hour.  Lois has opened new facilities, lifeguarded and managed at many of CRC’s pool over the years, but the pool where Lois has spent most of her time and energy is WEST HIGH POOL.  Lois has always made everyone feel welcome and included at her facilities.  She’s taken ownership to provide quality, safe and fun recreational and instructional programs, swim lessons and swim teams.  As an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training Instructor, Lois has taught swim lessons to thousands and certified many lifeguards over the years.  Lois even taught Guard Start for junior lifeguards, including first aid and CPR, before the Red Cross had their official program.  The WEST HIGH MIGHTY MEATBALLS swim team has dominated the CRC swim league over the years. Most of all Lois has helped each child improve their personal best and learn life skills that flow beyond the water of the pool.  Children whom Lois previously taught to swim, now bring their children back to West High Pool for Lois to instruct in swimming and to be a part of the West High Pool family.  Parents know their child will be safe, learn to swim, and have a great time as a Mighty Meatball at West High.

Lois has truly made a positive difference in the lives of many youth, mentoring numerous lifeguards, swimming instructors, coaches and young pool managers over the years.  Many of whom have gone on to become teachers with Lois’s influence.

In honor of Lois Ann Gribler we have started the Lois Ann Gribler Swim Fund through our Cincinnati Recreation Commission Foundation.  This is a non profit, 501( c)3,  tax deductible fund that can support youth in their swimming opportunities with CRC for years to come.
Thank you Lois, even though West High Pool will close this year, 2007, your legacy will last.
