2007 AWARDS FROM CITY OF CINCINCNATI’S SMALL ARTS ORGANIZATION GRANT PROGRAM ANNOUNCED

Cincinnati – Fine Arts Fund President and CEO Mary McCullough-Hudson announced the recipients of grants from the City of Cincinnati’s 2007 Small Arts Organization Grant Program at the June 14, 2007 meeting of City Council’s Arts, Culture, Tourism and Marketing Committee. Ms. McCullough-Hudson was accompanied by Tim Maloney, Executive Director of the Carol Ann & Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation, which is funding the grant program in 2007. Awards totaling $104,810 will be made to sixteen organizations (see attached list). Funded activities include exhibitions of visual art, performing arts productions, literary arts and music programs, a music festival, and interdisciplinary workshops in creative writing, visual arts and storytelling for residents of five low-income, inner-city neighborhoods.

The Cincinnati Arts Allocation Committee (CAAC), a standing City of Cincinnati arts advisory committee, reviewed applications submitted to the Small Arts Organization Grant Program and developed funding recommendations. The funding recommendations were approved by a committee of the Fine Arts Fund. Members of the CAAC are Andy Marko (Chairperson), Jeaunita Olowe (Vice Chairperson), Kristen Dietsche, Bert Goldstein, Kate Kern, Glenn Ray, Manuel Susarret, Adrienne Thompson, and Lissa Urriquia. Members of the Fine Arts Fund committee are Carol King, Carolyn McCoy, and Margo Ross.

The City of Cincinnati has offered grant programs for Cincinnati-based artists and arts and cultural organizations of all sizes since 1989. In 2007 and 2008, the City’s Small Arts Organization Grant Program and Major Arts and Cultural Organization Grant Program are funded by a two-year donation from the Carol Ann & Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation in partnership with the Fine Arts Fund. The City’s Individual Artist Grant Program, one of only two artist grant programs in Cincinnati, is funded by City dollars. The Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) is the City’s administrative agent for the arts grant programs.
