City of Cincinnati announces grants to artists

Cincinnati – Nine Cincinnati artists will receive grants from the City of Cincinnati’s 2007 Individual Artist Grant Program (see attached list). The grants will help support one literary arts project, one theater arts project, five visual arts projects, and two interdisciplinary projects that combine work in the literary and visual arts. Each funded project will include one or more public presentations of work. The awards total $35,000. Individual grant amounts range from $1,800 to $5,000.

The City of Cincinnati has operated grant programs for Cincinnati-based artists and arts and cultural organizations of all sizes since 1989. The City of Cincinnati is the only local government in the Tri-State that operates arts grant programs. It is the primary local funder of Cincinnati artists.

The City’s arts grant programs are administered by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission with assistance from the Cincinnati Arts Allocation Committee (CAAC), a City advisory body. Members of the CAAC are Andy Marko (Chairperson), Jeaunita Olowe (Vice Chairperson), Kristen Dietsche, Bert Goldstein, Kate Kern, Glenn Ray, Manuel Susarret, Adrienne Thompson, and Lissa Urriquia.
