Poetry and Pottery Party / Fine Arts Fundraiser

Unique challenges, awards, raffle items, great food, and poetry, the Pottery &Poetry Party has it all!  February 28th was the 5th year for this annual event. The Pottery Party began at the Dunham Arts Building as a fundraiser for the Fine Arts Fund.  This event continues to grow in popularity, challenging potters and poets alike in unique events.

To participate in this event potters and spectators donate money to the Fine Arts Fund. Teams of potters are formed and compete in unorthodox events such as throwing on the wheel blindfolded, team relays and throwing with oven mitts.  Each event is timed and judged on established criteria.  Based on the success of the first year, the party was held again, adding poetry into the mix of events. Writers create impromptu poetry based on words and phrases spoken during the challenges.  Poetry has now become an established element in this mix of artistic skills.  This event has become a venue for potters of all skill levels to meet, socialize and showcase their skills in a very unique way.  The Pottery & Poetry Party has evolved into a first class event, raising over $1500 for the Fine Arts Fund.
