Biography
Greg Harris has had a successful career working in education and public policy, including managing community and youth development organizations. Harrisʼs professional background includes having taught for six years at Miami University, where he also earned his MA and PhD, serving as Program Manager for the inner-city youth leadership development program PublicAllies/Americorps, and then as Executive Director of the regional citizensʼ league, Citizens for Civic Renewal (CCR). During his tenure, CCR worked with citizens and public officials to identify solutions to some of the more pressing problems facing the region, including school finance reform, urban sprawl, and poverty. Since 2005, Harris has worked as a Public Policy Officer at KnowledgeWorks Foundation, Ohioʼs largest education philanthropy. Harris oversees strategic communications and workforce education and economic development projects. Harris is currently staffing the foundationʼs efforts to identify innovative strategies for Ohio to bolster educational opportunity and job training for its over 1.2 working poor.
Harris is a former Democratic candidate for Congress in Ohioʼs First Congressional District. In his 2004 grassroots campaign against Rep. Steve Chabot, Harris received 116,000 votes, including 63% of the vote in the city of Cincinnati.
Harris resides in West Price Hill. He is married to Angela DuChesnault Harris, and the proud father of two boys, Nathan Mehta Harris and Leo Harris. Harris serves on the board of the Jewish Community Relations Council and is a member of the West Price Hill Civic Club.
