THE VOLUNTEER VINE

Help the Parks for a Day—Or All Year Long!

You can make a big impact in one day by volunteering for one—or more!—of our monthly stewardship projects:

March 29, 2008:         Paint tables and landscape at Valley Park

April 26, 2008:           Green Up Day & Great American Clean Up

May 17, 2008:            Landscape maintenance at Liberty Green

June 14, 2008:            Landscape maintenance at Westwood Town Hall

July 12, 2008:            Vine removal & timber stand improvement at Alms Park

August 9, 2008:         Clean & recycle plastic flowerpots at Operations

Each month the Cincinnati Parks will be hosting a stewardship project in one of our parks to give you the opportunity to help our community.   If you or a group would like to volunteer for any of these projects, please e-mail  cindi.nugent@cincinnati-oh.gov  for more information.

Maintain Landscape at Liberty Green

If you love to garden, we’d love to have you help maintain the landscape at Liberty Green.   Liberty Green is a beautiful greenspace near the corner of Reading Road and Liberty Street.   A committed group of community activists has made this inner-city spot safe and beautiful once again, and we need you to help keep it blooming.   Please e-mail  cindi.nugent@cincinnati-oh.gov  to volunteer.

Volunteer to Coordinate Park Projects

If you’re a good leader and well organized, apply for one of our challenging new volunteer coordinator assignments:

·          Greenspace Stewardship Program Coordinator  – coordinate the adoption and maintenance by individuals and group for medians and other areas within the city.

·          Trail Stewardship Program Coordinator– coordinate and recruit volunteers to assist with trail maintenance and litter patrol on all trails in parks.

·          District Stewardship Project Coordinators  (3) – Manage corporate and group projects in parks in one of three districts: West, East, and Central.

·          Litter Stewardship Program Coordinator– coordinate efforts by groups and individuals to prevent litter in parks and eliminate existing litter.

·          Trail Mapping Assistants– hike trails in parks to suggest better signage and coordinate mapping efforts for hikers.

In an effort to elevate community leadership in our parks, the Cincinnati Parks is seeking volunteers who have an interest in parks and greenspaces, a desire to recruit volunteers, and ideas for marketing and managing participants in the program.   Contact  cindi.nugent@cincinnati-oh.gov to apply.
