Ridge Ave. Lane Restrictions
Ridge Ave. Lane Restrictions Begin Thursday
Northbound Will Be One Lane Between Ibsen & Barrow
Beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, the curb lane of northbound Ridge Avenue will be closed between Ibsen and Barrow avenues.
Access from Ridge to Barrow will be maintained so that traffic still will be able to travel to Interstate 71 South, Norwood Lateral West, and the north end of Calvert Street.
This work is expected to last a little more than a week, weather-permitting.
Crews will be replacing the curb lane of northbound Ridge & Barrow to better connect to a new city street that will be built later this year to provide access to I-71 and the Norwood Lateral.
Bridge Structure Complete
The structure for the bridge crossing the railroad has been installed. Crews recently placed the 57 concrete arches that make up the bridge over rail line owned by SORTA. The arches are comprised of two, precast concrete pieces, each weighing 40,000 lbs.
News coverage of the bridge construction can be found here and here.
Stay Safe, Stay Off
The City of Cincinnati has received reports that people have been coming onto the Kennedy Connector construction site when crews are not present. This is very unsafe. The terrain is not suitable for pedestrians or wheeled vehicles.
The nature of a construction site of this magnitude calls for the topography to frequently change and the soil is often very loose. Additionally, the equipment used at the site can be dangerous.
Please keep off the construction site for your, and our crew's, safety. If you see suspicious or unauthorized activity on the site please contact Jared McFaddin at Jared.McFaddin@cincinnati-oh.gov or the Cincinnati Police at 513-765-1212.
The Kennedy Connector project will improve the capacity, geometry, and road connectivity in the Ridge Road/Madison Road Corridor. It will do so by creating a new section of Kennedy Avenue that will connect Duck Creek and Madison Roads and will improve connectivity to the Norwood Lateral and I-71. Other area road and infrastructure improvements will be made in the area as part of the project.
