Cincinnati Fire Explorers To Compete At Scarlet Oaks
Cincinnati Fire Explorers To Compete This Saturday At Scarlet Oaks
The Cincinnati Fire Department is proud to announce that their Fire Explorers will compete in a fire skills competition this Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Scarlet Oaks (3255 Kemper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45241).
The event will challenge Cincinnati Fire Explorers against other Fire Explorers throughout Greater Cincinnati. Some of the activities include: obstacle courses, ladder relays, search and rescue exercises and team-building radio exercises.
CFD has 18 Fire Explorers through a partnership with Learning for Life, whose mission is to enable young people to become responsible individuals by teaching positive character traits, career development, leadership, and life skills so they can make ethical choices and achieve their full potential.
The Fire Explorers Program is for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) or 15 to 20 years old. The Program provides experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Fire Departments initiate an Explorer post by matching their people and program resources to the interest of young people in the community. The result is a program of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop.
