To direct, manage, supervise and coordinate the activities and operations of the Laboratory division within the Health department, including the Central Laboratory and six clinic-based laboratories; to coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Assistant Health Commissioner.

QUALIFICATIONS: Four years of experience working in a public health or clinical laboratory which include a minimum of two years in a clinical laboratory specialty such as microbiology, chemistry, serology, hematology or any combination thereof. Included in the four years of experience, one must have a minimum of two (2) years of responsible supervisory experience to include the immediate direction of those in at least three scientific areas of a public health or clinical laboratory. Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry, microbiology, health technology or a closely related field. Other requirements include: possession of, or ability to obtain; CLIA certification from HCFA, Infectious Waste certification from Ohio EPA, license for prenatal serology and alcohol testing-laboratory director from Ohio Department of Health, and an OSHA Occupational Lead Testing Permit. All required experience must have occurred within the last (5) five years.
