The Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) has an exciting employment opportunity supporting and enhancing GCWW’s SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system in our Supply Division. The SCADA system is a 24/7/365 operation used to centrally operate and monitor all of GCWW’s water facilities used to gather, treat and distribute water to its numerous customers throughout the Greater Cincinnati Area. GCWW is a municipally owned and operated utility serving over 1 million people encompassing over 50 political jurisdictions and 800 square miles.

The individual selected will be responsible for configuring and maintaining SCADA system servers, databases, and applications which includes but is not limited to graphic screens, reports, trends, alarm and event processing; documenting procedures and configurations relating to SCADA systems servers and applications; testing and evaluating applications and system enhancements; programming SCADA remote terminal units (RTU’s); creating and maintaining project work plans; preparing reports for management and clients; providing training and instruction on the use of systems and applications; performing related duties as required.

 Examples of Job Duties:

  1. Programming field devices (RTUs) that control key water facilities including: pumps, valves, filters, chemical injectors, carbon contactors, storage tanks, etc.
  2. Data tag/signal creation/modification
  3. CitectSCADA programming, including graphical screen modifications and new screen creations
  4. System performance monitoring
  5. Monitoring and managing SCADA system security
  6. Managing end user change and enhancement requests
  7. Troubleshooting communication problems and communication media
  8. Report creation/modification and problem resolution

Preferred candidate will have skills in any or all of the following areas:

  1. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, SCADA.
  2. (RTUs)/Field Devices
  3. PLC programming language
  4. HMI programming
  5. Crystal Reports
  6. Microsoft SQL Server
  7. Oracle-
  8. Windows XP and Server 2003
  9. Network topologies and protocols including BSAP TCP/IP, Ethernet, OPC, etc.
  10. Experience in a manufacturing environment
  11. Programming such as PASCAL

QUALIFICATIONS:  Qualified applicants must meet all criteria in one of the two following categories:  Completion of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information technology, computer programming, or other computer-related program AND one year of professional, paid work experience in the Information Technology field,

OR

Completed 45-quarter credit hours from an accredited college or university with 30 of the 45 credit hours being in computer science, information technology and/or computer programming AND two years of professional, paid work experience in the Information Technology field.    A certification program, such as a Novell or Windows NT engineer may substitute for one year paid work experience in the Information Technology field (completion of other certification programs not listed will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis). 

May be required to work irregular hours and be on-call.  All required experience must have occurred within the last (5) five years.  You are required to show your valid driver's license to the Human Resources Department staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS.  Must be a Hamilton County resident at the time of appointment.
