The Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD) has an exciting employment opportunity for two talented, energetic, motivated, and service-minded Professional Engineers with a focus on teamwork and continuous improvement.  These positions offer a stable environment, excellent benefits, plus state-of-the-art technology and challenging projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
MSD is undertaking a large Wet Weather Improvement Program (WWIP) over the next 10 years and is in need of two Supervising Engineers in the Project and Business Development (PBD) Division to play a lead role in the planning of capital projects.  These positions are important to MSD’s success in carrying out the WWIP and meeting obligations placed upon it under Consent Decrees.  Projects over the course of the next 10 years will include a variety of processes and new technologies.  (More information on MSD’s Consent Decrees can be found at http://www.msdgc.org/consent_decree/.) 

The primary responsibilities of the employee are as follows:

  1. Supervise, assign, review, and participate in the planning of capital improvement projects for PBD.  The types    of projects include wastewater collection system projects, pump stations, treatment plants, and facility       projects.
  2. Supervise engineers and technicians within PBD.
  3. Ensure work quality control and adherence to project schedules, budgets, and established policies and procedures for MSD consultant and in-house projects.
  4. Play a lead role in the nomination, selection, and prioritization of capital projects based on Asset Management principles.
  5. Play a lead role in the development of a Long-Term Asset Replacement and Rehabilitation Plan.
  6. Maintain a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Ensure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders including giving presentations on specific projects and/or the WWIP.
  8. Participate in divisional and WWIP continuous improvement and process streamlining initiatives.
  9. Participate in the implementation of MSD’s 2009 – 2011 Strategic Plan.

The employee will also perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Each applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and at least three years of experience of professional experience as a Registered Professional Engineer. Must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Ohio, or in a state with equivalent registration requirements.  If registered in another state, Ohio registration must be obtained within the one-year probationary period.  It is preferable (but not required) that the applicant have at least one (1) year of experience in planning  capital projects addressing wet weather-related capacity issues. Must be a resident of the State of Ohio at the time of appointment, further residency requirements may apply. Please inquire further at the time of application.

Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.  You are required to show your valid Ohio Drivers License to the Human Resources Department staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS.
