The City of Cincinnati’s Health Department has an exciting employment opportunity for an individual to make a difference in our community. The Department is seeking to fill Public Health Nurse 2 positions to serve in our Home Health Nursing Program (Adult Health and Maternal Child Health).

LICENSES: You must submit the following with your application:

TRANSCRIPTS showing your qualifications for this position must be submitted by the deadline date. The City does not maintain a transcript file; you must submit transcripts with each application you submit. You may submit a readable photocopy of your official transcripts in lieu of requesting a new copy from the school for each application. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be a Registered Nurse licensed from the State of Ohio, and possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license. One year of newborn and postpartum experience preferred for Maternal Child Health nurses; one year of medical-surgical experience preferred for Adult Health; one year of medical surgical, pediatrics or obstetrics/gynecology preferred for Clinic Nurses. Second language (Spanish) is desirable. Applicant must be willing to furnish an automobile on an expense reimbursement basis. Must also possess patience, flexibility, initiative, tact, self-confidence, physical stamina, self-motivation, dependability and compassion, willingness to accept responsibility, quick reflexes, good eyesight, and keen powers of observation. Applicant must possess the ability to tolerate unpleasant conditions such as the sight of blood, exposed wounds, and obnoxious odors. Must be willing to make home visits to patient homes and possess independent judgment to determine needs of patients as an independent provider. All required experience must have occurred within the last (5) five years. You are required to show your valid driver's license or state ID card to the Human Resources Department staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS. Must be a resident of the State of Ohio at the time of appointment.
A criminal background investigation will be conducted for this position (according to Civil Service Commission Rule 15 – Sensitive Classifications/Positions and the Critical Infrastructure Protection Act of 2001 and the Patriot Act). The purpose is to detect security risks and prevent security threats posed by potential employees.
