The City of Cincinnati’s Department of Public Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to fill the Senior Computer Programmer Analyst position. This employee will perform a variety of professional, technical, and analytical duties in the operation of client/server, and desktop computer systems. Assists in the analysis for the Department of Public Services data processing needs; assists in the design, testing and implementation of systems. Performs other assignments as required. Applicant must be a self-starter, work well in a team environment, and be able to demonstrate the following:

- Troubleshoot any application or server connections.
- Install and maintain servers and network equipment.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot office network software and operating systems.
- Identify the need for hardware and software upgrades and perform upgrade.
- Under minimal supervision, develop specifications, code, and test interfaces and conversion programs or procedures.
- Create and maintain medium project work plans.
- Create data flow documents which detail systems or business problems.
- Evaluate and test options for backup, restoration, and recovery procedures.
- Identify software requirements.
- Draft requests for proposals to accomplish design objectives.
- Evaluate and specify hardware and software configuration and place orders with vendors.

- Apply a general understanding of protocols, topology, hardware and software, and network design.
- Evaluate and specify networking equipment and application.
- Apply network hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- Develop and administer end-user training programs.
- Assure that appropriate IT security is considered in all tasks.
- Act in compliance with the City of Cincinnati’s Information Security Policy, Administrative Regulations, and related standards and procedures in the City’s Human Resources Policies and Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants must meet all criteria in one of the two following categories:
Completion of an Associates Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information technology, computer programming, or other computer-related program AND one year of professional, paid work experience in the Information Technology field, OR Completed 45-quarter credit hours from an accredited college or university with 30 of the 45 credit hours being in computer science, information technology and/or computer programming AND two years of professional, paid work experience in the Information Technology field. A certification program, such as a Novell or Windows NT engineer may be substituted for one year paid work experience in the Information Technology field (completion of other certification programs not listed will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis). Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Ohio driver's license is required for some positions. May be required to work irregular hours and be on-call. All required experience must have occurred within the last (5) five years. You are required to show your valid driver's license to the Human Resources Department staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS. Must be a Hamilton County resident at the time of appointment.
