The City of Cincinnati is seeking to fill a Technical Systems Analyst (TSA) position with the Greater Cincinnati Water Works Department (GCWW), a municipally owned and operated utility. This position will be assigned to our Information Technology Services Division (ITSD). ITSD is responsible for the implementation, support, and enhancement of critical infrastructure, operating systems support, and database support for the GCWW Billing system, Enterprise Asset and Work Order Management System, Laboratory Management System and other enterprise IT systems. The individual selected needs to have strong Oracle and SQL Server database administration skills.

This position is a technical position in ITSD and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Oracle and SQL server database administration.
  • Oracle application server support and maintenance.
  • Monitor system performance and respond appropriately.
  • Open operating systems (i.e. HP UX, Linux) support as needed.
  • Design, coordinate and schedule a variety of advanced technical projects.
  • Review application design specifications in area of requirements and detailed design.
  • Manage end user change and enhancement requests.
  • Provide effective, efficient and professional responses to customers, both external and internal to GCWW.
  • Create and modify reports and resolve issues as necessary.
  • Disseminate information on relevant topics, document procedures, methods, software changes, known problems, etc.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  Each applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree and three years of experience OR an Associate’s Degree and five years of experience. The degree must be from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information technology, computer programming, criminal justice, geography, or a related field. Experience in analyzing, enhancing and supporting Oracle and SQL server databases and application server software like Oracle Application Server (OAS) is required. Other preferred experience includes:

    • Open operating systems (HP-UX, Linux)
    • Database support and management
    • Knowledge of structure query language (SQL)
    • Knowledge of application servers
    • Knowledge of Crystal, Oracle and SQL Server Reports
    • Information storage and retrieval
    • Storage area network management
    • Windows XP and Server 2003

    Position requires a criminal background investigation due to the sensitive nature of the work. May be required to work irregular hours and on-call.  All required experience must have occurred within the last (5) five years. You are required to show your valid driver's license to the Human Resources Department staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS.  Must be a Hamilton County resident at the time of appointment.
