Senior Engineer Salary:  $59,450 - $79,896 annually
Engineer Intern Salary:  $46,471 - $62,453 annually

The City of Cincinnati is seeking to fill two Senior Engineer positions in the Greater Cincinnati Water Works Department (GCWW), a municipally owned and operated utility.  GCWW is willing to underfill either position with an Engineer Intern.  GCWW serves approximately 1 million people encompassing over 50 political jurisdictions.  The total service area is over 800 square miles.  Individuals must possess the professional skills to communicate effectively with contractors, consultants, public agencies, GCWW staff and customers and be highly self-motivated and able to perform with minimal supervision.  These positions in our Water Quality and Treatment Division offer a stable environment, excellent benefits, plus state-of-the-art technology and challenging projects.  The first position is responsible for project management to ensure optimal treatment operation for water quality and compliance with current and future regulations.  Duties include evaluation of treatment unit processes including hydraulic models and bench or pilot scale testing, reviewing and recommending design and operation specifications related to water quality and treatment, evaluating source water quality and impact on surface and ground water treatment processes, developing requests for proposals and administering contracts, and supervising the preparation of engineering drawings and projects resulting in specifications and cost estimates.  The second position is responsible for project management to ensure optimal distribution system design and operation for water quality and compliance with current and future regulations.  Duties include use of hydraulic and water quality models to evaluate distribution system design and operation including hydraulics, pump stations and storage tanks; developing requests for proposals and administering contracts and supervising the preparation of engineering drawings and projects resulting in specifications and cost estimates.  Preferred candidates will have a Master’s Degree in civil, environmental or chemical engineering; demonstrated project management skills; knowledge of process design for surface and ground water treatment plants, and/or distribution system regulations including Safe Drinking Water Act; and an understanding of conventional and advanced water treatment technologies and applied research techniques and/or an understanding of hydraulic and water quality distribution system models.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Each applicant must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in civil, chemical or environmental engineering.  To qualify as a Senior Engineer, candidate must be a registered professional engineer in Ohio or in a state with equivalent registration  requirements and 2 years experience in the appropriate areas.  If not registered in Ohio when appointed, an Ohio Professional Engineer’s license must be obtained within the one-year probationary period.  Position will require a criminal background investigation. All required experience must have occurred within the last (5) five years. You are required to show your valid driver's license to the Human Resources Department staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS.  Must be a Hamilton
County resident at the time of appointment.
