The City of Cincinnati is seeking to fill a Senior Engineer position with the Greater Cincinnati Water Works Department (GCWW), a municipally owned and operated utility. GCWW serves approximately one million people encompassing over 50 different political jurisdictions. The total service area is over 800 square miles.
Individuals must possess the professional skills to communicate effectively with contractors, consultants, public agencies, GCWW staff and customers and be highly self-motivated and able to perform with minimal supervision. The position is in the Distribution Division and is involved with the study, design and maintenance and repair of the water distribution system. Responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance and repair of the extensive underground infrastructure, trouble-shooting both water quality and maintenance problems within the distribution system, reviewing plans for future improvements and coordinating projects with other Water Works Divisions. Additional duties will include developing and monitoring budgets and assuring that the Division’s work is coordinated with other agencies both within the City and throughout our service area. The candidate must be capable of supervising technical staff, managing field personnel, GCWW internal staff, construction contractors, consultants, and monitoring performance and contract compliance. Responsibilities include managing construction change orders and request for payments. The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and have excellent customer service skills. This position will also oversee the work of our in-house repair crews and associated support personnel. In this position you will be required to be on call 24/7.
Preferred candidate will have demonstrated 5 years experience in project management skills and possess a background that includes experience in water utility design, construction and maintenance or a related field and have hands-on experience with in-house repair crews, construction contractors, and on-site engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have completed a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil, environmental or mechanical engineering and must be a registered professional engineer in Ohio or in a state with equivalent registration requirements. If not registered in Ohio when appointed, an Ohio Professional Engineer’s license must be obtained within the one year probationary period. In addition, candidate must have an OEPA Certification as a Class I or II in Water Supply or Water Distribution or be able to obtain an OIT Designation in Water Distribution or Water Supply during the one year probationary period. The position will require a criminal background investigation. All required experience must have occurred within the last (5) five years. You are required to show your valid driver's license to the Human Resources Department staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS.
