The Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSDGC), a forward-thinking major utility providing
comprehensive water reclamation services to the Hamilton County region in southwestern Ohio, is seeking an
energetic, experienced strategic-minded professional for a key leadership role in our organization. The Sewers Chief Engineer will lead the Wastewater Engineering Division in its work to accomplish and support the Wet Weather Improvement Plan (WWIP), an aggressive $2 billion capital improvement program which will modernize the wastewater infrastructure over the next 20 years. MSDGC offers a fast-paced, diverse, team-based work environment, with an outstanding pay and benefits package.
Specific functional areas of the division include planning, design, program and project management, construction management and inspection, right-of-way acquisition, mapping and records, review of new development proposals, and permitting of new connections.
Responsibilities of the Sewers Chief Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:
· Leading division level strategic business planning in concert with MSDGC departmental strategic planning efforts;
· Working closely with the Program Management Consultant to accomplish the goals and achieve the milestones of the WWIP;
· Establishing methods and schedules for delivering projects and services;
· Planning, administering and monitoring the division budget;
· Overseeing the supervision, development and management of the staff of approximately 100, including engineering and other technical, clerical, administrative and project management staff;
· Planning for staffing expansion driven by program needs;
· Participating in meetings and negotiations with various regulatory authorities;
· Assuring conformance with quality and safety standards and practices, departmental policies and procedures, and other rules and regulatory requirements;
· Participating in meetings and negotiations with various regulatory authorities;
· Participating in professional associations and continuing education to stay abreast of industry e-trends and innovations, including regulatory standards, wastewater collection, treatment, operation and maintenance and information technology.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or related engineering field from an accredited college or university. Must be a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio or obtain same during probationary period. Must be willing to work irregular hours. Must have eight years of recent, progressively responsible leadership experience in a wastewater related field. Four years must be at the supervisory level and (5) five years of the required experience must have occurred within the last (5) five years. You are required to show your valid driver's license to the Human Resources Department staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS. Must be a Hamilton County resident at the time of appointment.
