Fire Captain Michael A. Washington reported on a one-alarm structure fire which occurred this morning in the East-End. At 07:28 hours an off-duty Cincinnati Fire Lieutenant notice a building on Eastern Avenue involved in fire.
The Cincinnati Fire Communication Center dispatched fire units to the above location immediately following the telephone alarm. Initial arriving fire units confirmed a “working fire” in a two-story with an attic “frame” vacant dwelling. Fire was showing from the second floor rear.
The building had several structure issues which hampered fire fighting activities within the building. The fire was brought under control within thirty minutes. The building was searched for any potential fire victims, none were found. The Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit is currently investigating this fire the cause is listed as “Undetermined”.
Damage is estimated at $20,000.00 dollars, no injuries were reported. Since the building was vacant smoke alarms were not functional. Thirty firefighters were utilized at this incident.
