Fire Captain Michael A. Washington with the Cincinnati Fire Department reported on a two-alarm structure fire which occurred this afternoon in Clifton. At 5:38 PM the Cincinnati Fire Communication Center received a telephone alarm reporting an apartment on fire at 2935 Marshall Avenue. Initial arriving fire units discovered a "working fire" on the first floor of a three-story brick thirty-six unit apartment building with the possibility of persons trapped above the fire. Due to the volume of fire showing, time of day and the life hazard probability a second alarm was immediately requested for additional resources.
An aggressive interior fire attack was conducted while simultaneously searching the building for any persons endangered. Some occupants were assisted out of the building via interior stairs. The fire was quickly brought under control smoke damage is extensive throughout the building.
The Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit is investigating this incident the fire is currently listed as “Undetermined”. Damage is estimated at $50.000.00 dollars. There were no injuries reported. Smoke alarms were present, but due to the extensive fire damage to the apartment it is unknown if they were operational at the time of the fire. Fifty-two firefighters were utilized at this incident.
