District-Three Fire Chief Anson Turley reported on a one alarm structure fire that occurred at 2363 Concord St in Walnut Hills. At 1200 hours this afternoon fire companies were dispatched to the report of a structure fire. Upon arriving at the scene companies discovered a two-story single family private dwelling with smoke coming from the second floor.
An aggressive interior fire attack by fire companies controlled the fire within ten minutes. The building was occupied at the time of the fire and all occupants exited the building safely. The building did not appear to have working smoke alarms. The occupants stated they were asleep at the time of the fire. The importance of a working smoke alarms in all dwellings cannot be overstated.
This fire could have had a very different outcome. Damage is estimated at $3000.00 dollars. Twenty-five firefighters were on the scene for approximately two hours. There were no injuries to either civilians or firefighters. The origin and cause of the fire is currently listed as “Undetermined”. The Cincinnati Fire Investigation Unit is investigating this fire.
