District Two Fire Chief John Zompero reported on a one alarm structure fire that occurred in Price Hill. At 2:41 PM the Cincinnati Fire Communication Center received a telephone call reporting a fire in a bedroom at 3742 St. Lawrence Avenue.
The first arriving companies found very little smoke showing from outside the building, but after making entry they encountered dense black smoke on the first floor of a twelve family apartment building. Within a few minutes, they were able to advance into the bedroom and extinguish the fire before it spread beyond that room.
Damage is estimated at $1000.00 dollars to the building and its contents. Fire investigators were called in but have not determined a cause at this time. There was a smoke alarm found outside of the bedroom but without a battery. There were no reported injuries to firefighters; however the occupant sustained minor injuries while attempting to extinguish the fire.
