One Alarm Structure Fire 895 Clinton Springs Avenue

 

Fire Captain Michael A. Washington reported on a one alarm structure fire which occurred this afternoon in North Avondale. At 5:02 PM the Cincinnati Fire Communication Center received a telephone call reporting an apartment on fire. The caller stated that the building was being evacuated.

Initial arriving fire units discovered heavy smoke showing from the third floor of three story brick and joist multi dwelling. The fire was located in apartment twenty-five (25) on the third floor. Fire fighters conducted an aggressive interior fire attack to control this fire, a primary and secondary search was conducted for any occupants, none were found.

The fire was extinguished within ten minutes, the origin and cause of this fire was due to a un attended candle that was too close to other combustibles. One person was injured suffering minor injuries due to the fire; this person was transported to an area hospital. No fire fighters were injured while fighting this fire.

Smoke alarms were present and operating which gave early warning to other occupants in the building. Damage is estimated at $15,000.00 dollars.
