District Three-Fire Chief Glenn Coleman reported on a one-alarm structure fire which occurred today in Northside.
The Cincinnati Fire Communications center received a call reporting a structure fire. Upon arrival fire fighters found heavy smoke coming from the first floor of this one-story dwelling. The origin and cause of this fire was food left unattended in the kitchen on the stove.
The stovetop fire extended into the kitchen cabinets as well as the ceiling area. The fire did significant damage to the kitchen with smoke damage throughout the first floor. No one was home when the fire department arrived on the scene. Twenty-eight fire fighters were dispatched to this incident. There were working smoke alarms present. Damage is estimated at $20,000 dollars. No fire fighters or civilians were injured. One adult and seven children were displaced; they are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
