One Alarm Structure Fires

District-Two Fire Chief Alan L Sedam reported on a one-alarm structure fire which occurred this evening in Sayler Park. The Cincinnati Fire Communication Center received a telephone call at 6:17 PM, reporting a possible structure fire at 6316 River Rd.

The occupants were surprised by smoke and exited the building before CFD arrival. Fire fighters arrived and quickly opened ceilings and walls to expose and extinguish the fire which was burning in concealed structural areas and the attic. The structure has a common attic space which can cause quick fire spread. Quick action by fire companies cut off the fire spread and extinguished the fire.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation. Damage is estimated at $20,000 dollars. There are 6 separate adults that will be unable to return. They will be put into different accommodations by the Owner or Red Cross. There were no reported injuries to fire fighters or civilians. There were smoke alarms sounding when fire crews made initial entry.
