Fire Captain, Michael A. Washington reported on a two-alarm structure fire that occurred this morning in Westwood. At 9:46 AM the Cincinnati Fire Communication Center received a telephone call reporting a structure fire at the above address.
Initial fire units arrived on the scene discovering heavy smoke showing from a two-story wood frame two-family dwelling. The fire appears to have started in the basement extending through the interior walls, entering the attic space. A second alarm was transmitted for additional staffing due to the labor intensive efforts of chasing the fire through the void spaces.
The fire was brought under control within one hour damage is extensive to the structure. Damage is estimated at $120,000.00 dollars. The occupants that lived upstairs escaped the fire prior to the arrival of the fire department. There were no injuries to fire fighters or civilians. Forty-eight fire fighters were dispatched to this incident.
