District-Two Fire Chief John Zompero reported on a one-alarm structure fire which occurred this afternoon in the Westwood. The Cincinnati Fire Communication Center received a telephone call at 2:27 PM, reporting a possible structure fire at 3353 Ninann Court.
The occupants returned home after being away for several hours only to find smoke coming from the roof of their one-story brick house. Fire fighters arrived and quickly opened ceilings and walls to expose and extinguish the fire which was burning in concealed structural areas.
The origin and cause of the fire appears to have started as the result of faulty wiring. Damage is estimated at $40,000 dollars. There was no one home at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries to fire fighters or civilians. There was an smoke alarm sounding when fire crews made initial entry but it was not determined if it was activated by smoke or an intrusion alarm.
